Week 4, Tongan Speaking!

Well I made it to Australia!    The plane ride was lonnnnngg, I placed 2 Book of Mormons and set this guy up from LA with the missionary there!!
(I tracked him the entire way!)

Malo lelei Everyone!... this week has been so awesome!!! I got here the first day, got assigned my comp and learned that I am speaking Tongan! Tongan...it is the best thing that has ever happened to me.... my comp is Elder Veehala from Tonga!
Mom, I know what you are thinking, "how the heck is Tyler going to learn Tongan?!?" it's ok I am thinking the same thing mom!! haha it will be ok, I will get it!! Tongan food is crazy. The past 3 days I have not gone hungry because they feed us so much, it's insane! Like, I come close to finishing the plate of food and they bring me another plate with even more on it!! haha! They call me the new Kolipoki from the movie, "The Other Side of Heaven".  Saturday I ate this squid stuff with raw fish and pork, All I can say was the pork was good! hahaha I literally am going to gain soooooo much weight!

(Everything is labeled to help me learn... I'm working hard to learn it quickly)

For P-Day today we are going to play heaps of footy (aka rugby). We have two other elders with us in the flat, Elder Williams from England and Elder Altansukh from Mongolia! They are both super cool!
oh, also on the first day after all our meetings they handed me the keys to the car and said, "you will drive the whole mission"! I'm like but ummmmm the drivers here are crazy!!! The roads are sooooooo small and it is really hard to drive on the other side of the road! But, I will get it... It's all good!

This week we have gotten heaps of rejections. But, it is ok I love them and they will learn to love me! My Tongan ward is super awesome, I feel like the language is surprisingly coming super easy to me and i am progressing allot! We do heaps of finding here because not too many people like us missionaries....

A few things I found interesting this week, random stuff:
-lots of different types ethnicities here
-everyone seems grumpy when they drive
-can't turn left on a red light
-heaps means lots
-people here talk really really quiet, so you have to ask them to repeat haha
-macas (McDonald) is super super expensive
-all there candy here are really bland and they have only one flavor of Gatorade
-lots of Asian food around here
-you go the opposite way, through a drive thru
-people pay like 40$ for a car wash
-for some reason short shorts are still in for guys

I miss you all so much! But don't worry about me... I am fine!! I don't really have much this week since it was really a short week, we only got to work a couple days.
I love you dad thank you for the great example you are to me and to all those around you! i love you Mom have a wonderful week! Ofa tu (it means I love you)!
